I didn’t even plan on following this tournament, but it sort of happened by chance. I was at my cousin’s place last week and he had a rerun of Al Ahly’s last league match playing. The crowd noise and the way the team pushed through to seal the win caught me off guard, and suddenly I got curious about how they’d look outside Egypt. Then I heard they’re starting against Inter Miami in the Club World Cup, and it made me think about how big of a contrast this is. One side is built on decades of local dominance, the other has the spotlight because of a superstar. Now I’m actually excited to see how June 15 plays out, and it feels like something worth talking about.

What makes me nervous with these kinds of matches is how unpredictable everything can be. A single slip from a defender, a goalkeeper misjudging a cross, or even just a bad bounce on the pitch can flip the game in seconds. That’s the kind of drama that makes you keep watching until the very end.
