I recently had to move from a small apartment in the Mission District to a larger place near the Marina and it was honestly one of the most stressful experiences I’ve had in years. Packing up all my stuff, especially fragile items like glassware and electronics, was already a headache, and then figuring out how to navigate San Francisco traffic with a moving truck made me anxious.

Moving in general always feels like it carries a lot of unpredictability. Even if you plan every single detail, things like unexpected traffic, last-minute changes to elevator availability, or realizing you forgot small personal items can throw off the schedule. It’s strange how those minor surprises can make the day both stressful and exciting at the same time. You try to control everything, but there’s always a bit of randomness, and learning to stay calm and adapt on the fly seems to be just as important as all the preparation. Those little moments tend to stick in your memory more than the parts that go perfectly smoothly, which is kind of fascinating when you think about it.
